Updates coming to the SLPN Network.
For the past few weeks I’ve been working on upgrades for the SLPN network websites. The updates are aimed at bringing some new features and site changes into the website
Some of these changes are just slight updates from the last version of the theme that we use (we use Revolution Code Gray blog theme. Unfortunately this is not longer available on the website). We was using the 2.0 version of this and when Wordpress 2.7 was released there was an upgrade to bring newer features into the theme based on that version.
One of these changes that will be coming will be in the form of something called “SLPN Channels” which are basically categories of shows that fit within a certain type. More on this soon when I write up a follow up post about it (later this week).
For now the SLPN Blog will be the only site on this network that will have the new wordpress theme on.
New Sidebar + The Beat Chicks Podcast!
I have just redesigned the Sidebar layout for a cleaner look to the site.
Also, I’d like to welcome The Beat Chicks to the SLPN network. The Beat Chicks is a SL music scene podcast where Hope Clary and TheDiva Rockin interview your favourite SL Musicians and get some Live performances too. So, if you love Live Music, be sure to grab this into your MP3 player!
SLPN on the iPhone / iPod
Today I have put in a new plugin on the SLPN website which allows iPhone and iPod users to browse through the content of SLPN as well as search through it as well. If you are a wordpress user you may want to give the plugin a try, its called WPtouch.
It also plays well with the podPress plugin that we use to have the flash player and download the content. I think its a pretty cool plugin with some nice AJAX features. So if you have an iPhone or iPod visit http://slpodcast.net/ and add us to your home screen
.
One More Thing…
We have now switched our SLPN videos from the place we were once hosting it to another service called Blip.TV . The reason we chose to move our video content from Libsyn to Blip is cost and also the service. Blip is dedicated to video and has a nice interface for people who just want to watch videos on the fly. It also allows our video to be automatically converted to an iPod format for those who want to watch the videos on their iPods or any MP4 player.
With the move and the restrictions of file size per month lifted we can now offer you more video content and so I am currently talking to machima people who might be intrested in showcasing their work on SLPN.
